UNPLEASANT CONDITIONS DURING FP1 ON PHILLIP ISLAND

PRESS RELEASE – 1. Free Practice – GP Phillip Island 2010

INTERWETTEN Honda 125 TEAM – Unpleasant conditions during FP1 on Phillip Island

That the Grand Prix at Phillip Island would take place in Australian Spring was well known, but that the conditions would be so unpleasant and cold this time around nobody really expected last week when it was 35°C in Malaysia. Also Marcel Schrötter has to get used to the tough conditions at Phillip Island and this afternoon during the first free practice of the 125cc class he crashed. The session was strongly influenced by the strong wind and the rain, that was holding on the whole day already and its start was delayed by two hours. Why Schrötter had crashed he is not really sure about himself, just the conditions were not what he was expecting and he simply slipped away on the watery and gripless racetrack. Schrötter hopes for better conditions for tomorrow’s second free practice.

Marcel Schrötter:
“It doesn’t make much sense to go out there today. It is raining, the track is wet and it is very cold. Why I have crashed I can’t really tell, I think I simply slipped as there is not much grip in the wet out there. I hope that the weather will improve for tomorrow as this is no fun at all.”
