SCHRÖTTER QUALIFIES ON 15TH SPOT IN ICY COLD
PRESS RELEASE – Qualifying – GP Phillip Island 2010
INTERWETTEN Honda 125 TEAM – Schrötter qualifies on 15th spot in icy cold
On TV the conditions look quite nice on Phillip Island. The sun is shining and it stayed dry during the 125cc qualifying. But what you don’t see on TV is the clanking cold and the stormy wind that rules on the Australian Island. This turned the qualifying into a big challenge for the smallest of the three GP classes, in which the riders and the bikes don’t weight much. Marcel Schrötter was able to survive it quite well and he finished the qualifying on 15th spot on the grid for tomorrow’s race.
Marcel Schrötter, 15 - 1'42.252:
“The wind is so strong here and it comes from many directions, which makes it unpredictable. It is not easy to ride the bike in these conditions and you have to be careful not to lose the front, what happened to me yesterday and almost again this morning. In the last five laps I always had a rider in front of me who was slower, but I could not pass him. Then in the last lap I made a mistake and this cost me half to one second. I hope I can do well in the race tomorrow.”
Terrell Thien, Team Manager:
“The qualifying was not too bad. Marcel was clever and improved step by step. The conditions here on Phillip Island are not optimal and unfortunately he could not have his best lap at the end, but I think Marcel did well in the qualifying.”
