BAD LUCK FOR SCHRÖTTER IN ESTORIL

PRESS RELEASE – Race – GP Estoril 2010
INTERWETTEN Honda 125 TEAM – Bad luck for Schrötter in Estoril
The sixth starting position was finally a very good starting position for Marcel Schrötter and he had the chance to fight with the leading group at the Portuguese Grand Prix. All the weekend did go well for the 17 year old and he started the race today with a lot of confidence, as he was looking forward to achieve a Top 10 result. Unfortunately everything changed. After two dry races of the other two GP classes it started to rain in the middle of the 125cc race and did not give the best conditions for the riders to open the throttle. Schrötter crashed just before the race was stopped and could not join the restart. Schrötter now hopes that in Valencia he will be able to show a similar strong performance and earn his best result of the season so far in the last race of the season.
Marcel Schrötter, not qualified for the restart of the race:
“I am disappointed. I had a good start, but lost a little bit in the first couple of laps. Then the chaos started on the track and riders overtook on both sides of me. I was able to stay with the group, as all the riders were more or less modest with their speed. I was strong in braking and fought some positions back. Then I was stopped by a slower rider in front of me and I lost control about the bike when it started to rain and I slipped away. That was not predictable. I am sure today more was possible, but the race was stopped and unfortunately I was not allowed to join the restart.”
Terrell Thien, Team Manager:
“They stopped the race a little bit late. Marcel was not allowed to join the restart of it. Until then he rode a good race, had a good starting positions for a change and could fight with the group. Now I hope he will have a similar good performance also in Valencia.”
